Economist in IT : Journey to getting hired

As a 22-year-old who has been studying economics since my 8th-grade electives, I have to admit though it stings a little, it is a fact that I am exhausted by the subject. After nearly a decade of immersion, I still find economics crucial and fascinating, yet its theories, formulated years ago, often feel detached from the realities of today’s world. I can’t help but feel the discipline needs a radical change, especially in how its models apply to the modern economy.

Now, with just nine months left before I graduate with my master’s degree, I’ve come to a difficult realization: my chances of getting hired in economics are slim. The truth is, my skill set is limited, and my determination hasn’t always been the strongest.

But then another thought struck me ”what about software? “ I’ve always been passionate about it, aestheticized it and watched movies about it even if I never had the chance to study it formally. So why not try that path?

Hence I created this blog which will be dedicated to that journey: stepping into IT as an economist. Here, I’ll write about how I explore different corners of the field and search for a small bubble in the vast ocean of technology where an economist like me can belong.

I am excited to see how and to where this will lead me to…..!!
